Gecko in.touch App and Upgrade Guide

← Back to Spa Support

If you have an older Gecko in.touch 2 system, you may be wondering which app to use or whether you need to upgrade. Start by identifying your home module. Downloading the new Gecko app alone does not update an in.touch 2 system.

Last reviewed October 6, 2026. App availability and manufacturer support schedules may change.

Which app works with my system?

Your systemApp to use
in.touch 2The original in.touch 2 app
in.touch 3 or in.touch 3+The newer Gecko app

The generations use different app and cloud platforms. If you still have in.touch 2 hardware, the new Gecko app will not connect to it. A hardware upgrade is required to move to the newer platform.

Gecko's app compatibility guide includes links for the older app. For in.touch 3 downloads, use the App Store or Google Play badges on our in.touch 3 product page.

How to identify your home module

Look at the label on the home module connected to your router, also called the EN module. The old and new housings look very similar, so appearance alone is not reliable.

  • in.touch 3: Gecko identifies the newer home module by EN-V2 in the Options section and a QR code used during setup.
  • in.touch 2: Gecko's identification guide shows the older home module without the EN-V2 option or setup QR code.

Some in.touch 3 home-module labels still say “in.touch 2.” Check the Options entry rather than relying on that name alone. See Gecko's illustrated module-identification guide for examples.

If your label is unclear, send us a photograph before purchasing replacement hardware.

Is in.touch 2 being retired?

As of October 2026, Gecko lists January 2028 as the end of remote-control access for in.touch 2. Gecko also states that security updates for that generation ended in 2023.

The announced deadline concerns remote access through the connected service, not retirement of your spa's physical control system. It does not mean you need to replace the entire spa. If your topside controls are malfunctioning, that is a separate service issue.

A connection problem today should not automatically be blamed on this future deadline. Confirm which hardware and app you have, then contact us for help.

Check Gecko's current support and end-of-life policy before planning an upgrade; the manufacturer maintains the schedule.

What to check before upgrading

Your spa's installed control pack matters more than its model year. Gecko lists in.yj, in.ye, and in.yt control systems, version 2 or newer, as compatible with in.touch 3. Older or different packs need individual confirmation.

  1. Identify your existing home module and the app you are using.
  2. Find the control-pack model and version in your spa documentation or ask your service professional to identify it.
  3. Confirm compatibility before ordering, especially for in.xe, in.xm2, or an earlier control-pack version.
  4. Make sure your router has an available Ethernet LAN port and a nearby indoor outlet for the home module.

See Gecko's control-system compatibility guide. Installation should follow the manufacturer's instructions; have a qualified spa service professional handle spa-side connections if you are unfamiliar with the equipment.

Spa Guy currently stocks the standard in.touch 3 complete kit, including both modules, the home-module power supply, and an Ethernet cable. We do not currently stock in.touch 3+ or a home-module-only upgrade. Contact us before buying an individual replacement module elsewhere; do not assume that every old and new module combination will work together.

Do I need Gecko Premium?

No paid subscription is required for basic remote controls in the Gecko app. Gecko offers an optional Premium subscription for additional features; check Gecko's current features and pricing if you are interested.

Premium is an app subscription, while in.touch 3+ is a different hardware model. Paying for Premium does not convert an in.touch 2 system to in.touch 3 or turn a standard in.touch 3 kit into in.touch 3+.
