A practical starting point
The 4-inch center tapers to a 2-inch edge to encourage water runoff. This is the starting insulation level in our range, with two-pound-density foam and a cover made to your confirmed measurements.
R-value measures resistance to heat flow. Actual heat loss also depends on cover fit, condition, weather, and how you use your spa.

Covers generally take 7–14 days to build, plus 3–7 days in transit. Pricing includes a freight allowance within the contiguous United States. Any additional freight charge is calculated in the cart using your delivery ZIP code.
Covers ship by freight truck and require suitable truck access. Remote or limited-access locations may involve additional charges. Review shipping and delivery policies.

Insulation, reinforcement, and safety-cover classification all matter. Here is what goes into each of our three cover thicknesses.
UL Classified manual safety cover
Need a safety cover for your spa inspection?
Spa Guy’s bi-fold covers are UL Classified as manual safety covers in accordance with ASTM F1346. The classification label identifies that certification—an important distinction when your inspector requires evidence of safety-cover compliance.
Confirm your local requirements with your building inspector before ordering. Install and secure the cover according to the supplied instructions.

A tapered core for water runoff
This model measures 4 inches at the center and 2 inches at the edge. The slope helps rainwater run off rather than collect on top.
Its insulation rating is R-20. Higher R-values indicate greater resistance to heat flow; fit, condition, and weather also affect heat loss.
Two-pound-density foam
Our inserts use virgin expanded-polystyrene foam at a density of two pounds per cubic foot. Density describes the material itself, not the total weight of the cover.
All three models use this same foam density. A thicker core provides the higher insulation ratings available in the 5-inch and 6-inch options.
Heat-sealed moisture protection
Each foam insert is enclosed in a heat-sealed 4-mil plastic vapor barrier. This layer helps protect the insulating foam from moisture inside the cover.
The barrier is a separate protective layer beneath the outer vinyl skin.
Aluminum reinforcement
Aluminum C-channel reinforces the foam inserts along the center of the cover. It adds support while keeping the reinforcing structure lightweight.
Aluminum does not rust like steel, making it useful in the damp environment around a spa.
Spa Hyde vinyl and color choices
The outer skin uses 28-ounce Spa Hyde® vinyl formulated for spa-cover use, with resistance to mildew and UV exposure.

Reinforced handles and hold-down straps
Handles and hold-down straps use double-X stitching at their attachment points, with ozone- and chemical-resistant thread.
These reinforced areas support the parts you use when opening and securing the cover.
Four lockable tie-downs
Each cover includes four lockable tie-down straps, keys, and mounting hardware. The straps attach the cover to the spa when it is closed.
Install, fasten, and lock the hardware as directed. An unsecured or improperly secured cover is a hazard; keep children away and follow all label warnings.
Heat seals at the fold
Heat seals, sometimes called steam stoppers, help close the gaps at the ends of the fold and reduce heat escaping through the hinge area.
This feature is included across all three insulation levels.
A skirt to cover the spa lip
A standard 3-inch skirt hangs below the foam edge to cover the spa lip. The skirt continues around the corners, with extensions at the hinge area.
Skirt length is separate from foam thickness. Choose the skirt length your spa needs in the cover builder.
